Carmen Teardrop Fedora | Wide Brim Panama Straw Hat for Women。This is a beautiful black straw fedora from the 1940s\'. The hat is made of a unique \"mesh\" straw in a black matte finish. The medium crown is tubular in shape, and has an indentation at the top. The medium brim is shaped so it has an almost square design, and bends down at one side, as millinery fashions of the era dictated. Around the crown there is a very wide, black band made of grosgrain, which crosses at one side. There is a fluffy black feather plush thin, lacquered yellow feather protruding from the area where the band crosses. This presents a very stylish and dramatic. There is an elastic band attached to the inside in order to wear this hat in a tilted position. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. Explosions of feathers, veiling & artificial flowers were popular. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
