1920-40。What a beautiful black felt cartwheel hat from the fashionable 1950s\'! The hat consists of a round cap to which a downturned wide brim was been attached, leaving the top of the cap exposed above the brim. There are beautiful rust/bl;ack feathers attached to the top back of the cap, secured via a narrow felt bow. There are 3 square rhinestone buttons attached to one side of the brim front. An elastic band has been attached to the inside to keep the hat in place. Simply gorgeous!!!
Throughout the 1950s, ladies wore hats daily as a part of their attire as was a pair of gloves. To preserve its market, the millinery industry set about creating variety and extravagance. Alternatively, ‘pancake’, ‘platter’, ‘mushroom’ or ‘cart wheel’ hats sat flat atop the head reviving turn of the century styles.
There is no label, but a stamp inside the hat states: ULTRA 100% wool - Armand Schwab Co. Inc. Distributors New York
