This 1940s\' black felt tilt hat consists of a round structure which has been gathered at the top so it shows many folds around the circle. At the center top there is a tall felt \"feather\", plus an array of red fabric \"flowers\" To keep the hat in a tilted position. there are 2 ban=ds of grosgrain attached to the inside sides of the hat. These bands are held together with an elastic \"O\" ring. Black veiling completes th=is unique look. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. There is a size label: ADJ (USTABLE). This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
